About The Hair Roundup

The Hair Roundup is an independent editorial publication that helps you make better hair-care decisions without wading through hype. We cover shampoos, conditioners, treatments, scalp care, styling products, and tools. We tell you plainly what the evidence supports and where it runs out.

Who writes this

The site is founded and edited by Maitiú, who built The Hair Roundup to apply an evidence-led method to hair-care recommendations rather than rewriting manufacturer copy. Every pick is the product of research and judgment, with limitations stated openly.

How we work

We are a research desk, not a testing lab, and we say so. Rather than claiming hands-on trials we have not run, we build each recommendation from three independent signals:

  • Aggregated review data. We start from real owner reviews at scale, not a single anecdote, and we surface the recurring complaints alongside the praise.
  • Published dermatology and cosmetic-science literature. Efficacy and scalp-health statements are cross-checked against published sources and kept narrower than that evidence.
  • Real forum discussion. We pressure-test picks against what people actually report on Reddit and hair-care forums before we recommend anything.

Our editorial honesty rules

  • We never claim to have tested or tried a product unless we literally have.
  • We avoid unbacked superlatives: you will read "our pick," not "the best on the market."
  • Our copy stays narrower than the evidence. When the science is thin, we say so rather than filling the gap.
  • For hair-loss, scalp, and supplement topics we write appearance-focused claims, not drug claims, and treat any medical question as a reason to talk to a clinician.
